Easter Bunny visits Moyock on fire truck
The Daily Advance (Date Unknown)

MOYOCK - When a fire truck pulled up to Moyock Elementary School on Friday, it wasn't carrying water to put out a fire. It was carrying the Easter Bunny to pass out Easter eggs.

Tammy Lindsey with the Moyock Ladies Auxiliary Club arranged the visit with the help of the Moyock Ruritan Club.

"We got carried away throwing the eggs," Lou Blake of the Ruritan Club said after Lindsey proudly admitted they dropped more than 400 colorful candy eggs for about 100 kindergarteners to find.

And get carried away they did. The teachers brought their classes out and successfully kept them in line as their wide-open eyes scanned the playground for bright shiny wrappers. Finally, someone yelled "go," and the mob of children stampeded the playground, scurrying to pick up as many eggs as their little hands would hold.

Six-year-old Chris Barnes found the special golden egg.

Lindsey said she really enjoyed watching the Easter egg hunt and explained that they "wanted to do something nice for the children during this spiritual week. We wanted to share."

After leaving the school, the Moyock fire truck took the Easter Bunny to several area day cares and to Sentara Nursing Home.
